The primary purpose of home-based childcare is to assist working or single parents by providing supervision and care for their children at home.
Staff members with specialised degrees (early childhood educators, teachers, teaching assistants, those with advanced degrees in social work, and those with advanced degrees in healthcare) provide assistance to families in need, such as in cases of twin births or when a parent is unable to care for the child due to illness.
Home-based childcare is a form of care for children under the age of six living with their families; care is provided in the family’s home based on a written agreement with the child’s legal guardian. The early childhood educator may not remain alone with the child in the home.
The frequency and duration of the service depend on the family’s needs and are tailored to the parent’s work schedule. We provide home-based childcare services every day of the week, as needed.
The scope of professional services includes care, education, and supervision tailored to the child’s age and health condition.

The role of the early childhood educator working in a home setting is primarily to assist, advise, and support, which involves
- assisting and providing advice on developing a daily routine that promotes the child’s psychosomatic development.
- creating and facilitating the physical and environmental conditions necessary for peaceful mealtimes (breastfeeding) and, if necessary, feeding the child.
- as needed, assisting with or teaching the parent how to change diapers and get the child dressed.
- creating conditions that ensure peaceful sleep.
- preparing the necessary items for bathing, assisting with bathing the child, or bathing the child.
- organising a play area and play activities appropriate for the child’s age and developmental level, and drawing parents’ attention to age-appropriate toys and equipment.
- assisting with the preparation of age-appropriate food for the child as needed, or teaching parents how to prepare it, and feeding the child.
- taking the child outside for fresh air, in accordance with the weather, together with the parent.
- monitoring the child’s physical, motor, cognitive, and emotional development.
- following the advice of the paediatrician and health visitor; raising parents’ awareness of the importance and schedule of preventive screenings and mandatory vaccinations, and assisting with participation in these.
Among other things, the early childhood educator is required to
- keep a care log of daily events.
- respect the privacy rights of family members and the child by maintaining confidentiality.
- be aware of the limits of their competence; they may only undertake tasks that they can safely perform based on their knowledge.
The rights of early childhood educators providing home-based childcare
- in connection with their work, they have the right to access the necessary information,
- in the course of their work, they must prioritise the children’s best interests, but this must not infringe upon their own individual, private, or civic interests and rights,
- in the course of their work, early childhood educators are considered to be performing a public service and are entitled to protection against unlawful or unethical treatment.
It is not the responsibility of an early childhood educator providing home-based childcare to keep the child’s clothing clean, to clean the home or keep it tidy, or to fulfill the parents’ requests in matters outside of childcare or past of working hours.
As stipulated in the agreement, upon the expiration of the care period, the early childhood educator will entrust the child to the care of a parent, legal guardian, close relative, family member, or an adult designated by the parent (an adult with whom the child is familiar). In the case of a designated person, the parent is required to ensure that they are personally introduced to the early childhood educator.
