About Our Nursery

Our nursery is located in the Tisztviselőtelep quarter of Józsefváros, in a quiet, peaceful suburban setting. Our facility has a capacity of 72 children, divided into 3 care units, each with 2 group rooms and directly adjacent support areas, including a bathroom, a children’s changing room, and a kitchenette. The facility is close to two kindergartens and two elementary schools, which allows children who start at the nursery to later attend kindergarten and then school in virtually the same location.

It’s a true little green oasis in the middle of the city, where you can always hear birds chirping. Each group has its own section of the garden, which is safe and filled with plenty of educational toys and even more opportunities for exploration. Together with the children, we tend to the flowers and the herb garden, which we plant together in the spring. We don’t forget about the blue tit and golden oriole birds that visit us in the garden, and we always prepare treats they’ll enjoy in the bird feeder.

Number of staff members: 23

Meal planning is based on modern nutritional science principles and strictly adheres to quality standards (in compliance with HACCP food safety regulations). The meals are varied, always seasonal, and well-balanced in flavor, and we ensure they are appropriate for teaching children to eat independently.

Our gym provides additional opportunities for children’s motor skill development.

Our group rooms measure 58–60 m² and offer a colourful, spacious, and inspiring environment capable of accommodating 12 children per group. The rooms are furnished in a child-centred, cosy, aesthetically pleasing, and safe manner. Our toy collection is thoughtfully designed to be motivating and imaginative, ensuring that every child can find toys that best suit their developmental stage and interests.

Programmes

Carnival celebrations, the “Spring Buzz” musical show, Easter and Christmas playhouses, Children’s Day combined with a garden party, “Awesome Day” musical mornings, St. Nicholas Day, and a Christmas celebration.

The Goal of Our Nursery

“Every child has an innate desire to act and a need to explore the world; that is why we must provide them with opportunities for spontaneous, free play. A child’s development is a natural process driven by inner forces. This inner rhythm cannot be imposed from the outside, because then the child’s identity becomes stifled, and their curiosity cannot fully unfold and take flight.” (Maria Montessori)

At the Katica Nursery, we have set this goal for ourselves: to help children take flight.

What Makes Our Nursery Unique

Our educational programmes are varied and always tied to play activities. Embedded within play are spontaneous and freely chosen initiatives for creative work, music education, environmental education, and motor skill development.

Aromatherapy

We use aromatherapy from late fall through early spring. The use of medicinal herbs containing aromatic compounds and the essential oils derived from them in our nursery serves to prevent illness.

Listening to Music

When putting the children to sleep, in addition to ensuring a calm atmosphere, we select music from our collection of relaxation tracks and carefully chosen classical pieces to help them unwind; this music can also be played during creative activities in addition to bedtime.

Additional Services

The Unified Nurseries of Józsefváros employ full-time psychologists and special education teachers, and an integrated parent-infant/early childhood consultation service is also available.

Our nursery provides temporary childcare services for families who do not use full-day care but occasionally find themselves unable to arrange childcare for their children.

Daily Schedule

A well-organised, consistent, and flexible daily schedule creates the conditions for education and care and provides young children with a strong sense of security and predictability. Within the daily schedule, we structure activities so that they are appropriate for the children’s age and developmental level.

Day after day, cheerful early childhood educators and nannies—with a watchful, caring gaze and arms always open for comfort and hugs—busily tend to the children.

In this house, the children get to take part in exciting and fun activities every day, such as singing, exploring musical instruments, reciting nursery rhymes, and engaging in creative activities—where they play with modeling clay, glue things together, tear and cut paper, color, paint, and even organise an exhibition of their creations.

When the kids of the Katica Nursery want to climb, wriggle around, and do cartwheels, the movement-development toys come out of the magic box.

There are so many wonderful things—like the climbing rocker, the hoop, the sensory path, river rocks, buoys, and beanbags—it’s impossible to list them all.
