About us
The nursery building is a protected historic monument. Built in 1876 based on designs by Miklós Ybl and constructed from the start to be a nursery, the institution opened in 1877. The building houses the Nursery Museum and serves as the location for the Social Work Library and Reading Room.
Our nursery employs 32 people.
We prepare meals for the children and staff in our own kitchen, where a certified dietitian serves as the food service manager and coordinates operations.
During the winter months, children can use our new salt room as part of a therapeutic programme.
We provide care and education for the children in six group rooms.
The playground is equipped with everything needed to meet the children’s need for physical activity. Each group has a set of high-quality, aesthetically pleasing toys appropriate for their age group and compliant with safety standards.
The group rooms also provide opportunities for active play; children can independently use the movement-development equipment and the climbing tunnel. Picture books and storybooks await the children in the reading and book-browsing corner. To support visual creativity and artistic expression, the necessary materials—crayons, coloured pencils, and drawing paper—are always available.
We strive, in cooperation with their families, to raise the children entrusted to our care to be open-minded, curious, receptive, independent, and respectful of the basic rules of social coexistence.
Art education is a priority at our nursery. With its balanced atmosphere and varied, informal activities, the nursery helps bring out the children’s individual talents and abilities. Creative activities are always experiential and tied to the seasons and holidays. We always work with the children in small groups, ensuring that each child receives individual attention. In the realm of creativity, we encourage the children’s curiosity, spirit of discovery, and interest in creating.
The Unified Nurseries of Józsefváros employ full-time psychologists and special education teachers, and an integrated parent-infant/early childhood consultation service is also available.
Our nursery provides temporary childcare services for families who do not use full-day care but occasionally find themselves unable to arrange childcare for their children.
A well-organised, flexible daily schedule creates the conditions for education and care and provides young children with a strong sense of security and predictability. Within the daily schedule, We structure the activities within the daily schedule to suit the children’s age, developmental level, and the current season.
