About us

Get to know our nursery

Our nursery was established in 1976 on the ground floor of a ten-storey apartment building, with a capacity of 50 children and four spacious, well-lit group rooms.

We have equipped our large, rubber-surfaced playground with many modern play structures designed to promote motor skill development: Wesco bicycles, tricycles, and balls; a Rotikom cube play structure, a slide, and plastic climbing frames.

During the hot summer months, a splash pad provides refreshment, while in the winter, the children can play in a well-equipped, modern gym.

The facility has a staff of 20: 10 early childhood educators, the head of the nursery, 4 nannies, 3 cooks, one food service manager, and one laundry worker—who take care of the children’s daily needs.

We have our own laundry facility and kitchen. The kitchen provides four meals a day. When it comes to meals, our facility always takes into account different needs, whether they involve various food allergies or sensitivities.

In our own salt room, during the winter months and in case of bad weather, the children play for half an hour each week with the help of their early childhood educators. The salt room has a beneficial effect on their respiratory systems and is effective in alleviating the symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, tracheitis, croup, the common cold, etc.

Our group rooms are child-centred, cosy, home-like, and aesthetically pleasing. Our young, qualified and cheerful early childhood educators welcome the children with plenty of colourful toys, musical instruments, storybooks, and equipment for motor skill development.

Our staff enriches the holidays with group activities, games, and performances; during open house events, parents also have the opportunity to get a glimpse into the daily life of the groups and play together with their children.

The goal of our nursery

We support the harmonious development of young children in a cheerful atmosphere, in cooperation with the families they are raised in, taking into account individual characteristics and needs, with attentive love and acceptance, by offering opportunities to gain experience, and by modelling appropriate behaviours.

What Makes Our Nursery Unique

In addition to implementing the Basic Programme for Nursery Education and Care at a high level, our nursery instills values that nurture our staff’s faith in and commitment to their educational work, while providing families with a safe environment that respects the primacy of family-based upbringing.

During our nursery’s musical mornings, we introduce children to nursery rhymes and singing games to inspire a love of singing and set an example for voluntary imitation, spontaneous humming, and singing. We encourage children to move in coordination with the repetitive play movements that accompany the songs, thus developing their sense of rhythm, and creating an atmosphere in which children feel comfortable.

We place great emphasis on literary education. In addition to our nursery’s high-quality book collection, each group has its own wooden-framed paper theatre. This offers a different kind of visual experience compared to traditional storytelling, as the storyteller accompanies the narrative with movement. We also prepare monthly literary recommendations to assist parents, featuring seasonally relevant suggestions that include poems, nursery rhymes, stories, and a visual element.

Additional Services

In the spring and fall, our nursery hosts the Palánta Playhouse, where on Saturday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., we explore traditions, folk customs, as well as the cultures of other nations.

The Unified Nurseries of Józsefváros employ full-time psychologists and special education teachers; speech therapy and integrated parent–infant/early childhood consultation services are also available.

Our nursery provides temporary childcare services for families who do not use full-day care but occasionally find themselves unable to arrange childcare for their children.

Daily Schedule

A well-organised, consistent, and flexible daily schedule creates the conditions for education and care and provides young children with a strong sense of security and predictability. Within the daily schedule, we structure activities to suit the children’s age and developmental level, as well as to be appropriate for the current season.
